Job Description
Apify's mission is to help anyone get more value from the web with automation, AI agents, and web scraping.
Why?
We believe that humans have better things to do than filling forms, compiling huge Excel sheets of copy-pasted data, or watching thousands of videos to determine whether they include a specific brand logo.
Those are jobs for machines.
And just as in the real world, we have tools that make our lives easier, we should have tools to make our lives easier on the web.
Web automation has a profound impact. Our users automate service unsubscriptions to save people money, and they collect billions of rows of data from all over the world for AI training, protection of consumers, or finding lost children. We give AI chatbots the context to interact intelligently, and we're developing novel ways to work with AI agents and MCP.
To support our mission, we're looking for a talented Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to help us build and maintain our scalable cloud architecture, optimize system performance, and improve the developer experience that powers Apify's web automation platform.
What you'll be working on:
Your role will be improving our core infrastructure, identifying bottlenecks, running experiments, and implementing new ways to increase system performance and developer efficiency.
Apify is built for developers by developers. We use the Apify platform ourselves every day and put great pride in making it better for everyone. We're big advocates of open source and publish everything we can on GitHub (PRs are welcome).
Your mission at Apify:
• Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS to support Apify's growing web automation platform
• Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters and other compute workloads, ensuring high availability and efficient resource utilization
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using CloudFormation, Terraform, and Helm charts
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable deployments across the platform
• Monitor system health and performance using Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and PagerDuty - proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks
• Automate operational tasks and improve developer tooling to increase engineering productivity across the company
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to design infrastructure that meets performance, scalability, and security requirements
Our tech stack:
• Infra: AWS Compute (Kubernetes (EKS), EC2, Lambda), Helm, ArgoCD, MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, S3, GitHub Actions
• Monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Mezmo, PagerDuty
• Frontend: React.js, styled-components, Storybook, Chromatic, Cypress, Playwright
• Backend: TypeScript/Node.js, Nest.js, Next.js, Express.js, Docusaurus, Jest
• Tools: GitHub, Notion, Google Workspace
• Editor and AI assistant of your choice (GH Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Gemini, or JetBrains AI)
• Process: two-week sprints, code reviews, tests, automating whatever we can, and deploying multiple times per day.
Who we're looking for:
• Strong Linux systems administration and networking fundamentals
• Experience with building and maintaining infrastructure on AWS (EC2, S3, DynamoDB, CloudFormation, or similar)
• Hands-on experience with container technologies, specifically Docker and Kubernetes; MicroVM runtime familiarity is a plus
• Strong focus on infrastructure as code - we have a lot of CloudFormation, Terraform, and Helm charts
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline design (GitHub Actions or similar)
• Familiarity with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Mezmo, Sentry)
• Drive to automate repetitive tasks and improve developer workflows
• Strong English communication skills
Nice to have:
• Familiarity with MongoDB, Redis, or other database operations at scale
• Contributions to open-source infrastructure projects
Don't worry if you don't meet all of the above criteria. We value diverse skills and experience and would love to hear from you.
Why should you work at Apify?
