Cloud Infrastructure Architect

The Cloud Infrastructure Architect will work within a broad and diverse group of I.T. engineers utilizing their skill set in designing, building and providing standardization for the company’s network, topology and hardware/virtualization design from a Hybrid-Cloud and Internal/External Cloud services perspective within the Wawa technology platform. The position requires a strong working knowledge of web and cloud based technologies and services, concepts, security and standards to develop conceptual, scalable and functional designs as well as the ability to implement such structures for a holistic Enterprise approach.

Principal Duties:

1.Works with ITPS Engineering Team to define parameters, procedures and standards used to create a robust and stable Cloud services strategy and implementations within the Enterprise. Works with the ITPS Engineering team to link company strategy to the Enterprise structure and functions that leverage cloud based services and technologies and helps make necessary changes work within the organization, including driving and making changes work, managing resistance and “buy-in”, and follow through to ensure such modifications become standard operating procedure.
2.Serves as the primary designer and architect for Enterprise Cloud systems and services. Understands unique differences in customer/departmental needs.
3.Provides leadership to project teams, and facilitates the definition of project deliverables around core Cloud based technology and methods. Researches, identifies and develops solution pathways to business challenges and standards for implementation of those from a cloud services and security implementation perspective.
4.Defines tracking mechanisms and ensures IT standards and methodology are met; manages expectations and project scope; appropriately reports status; delivers quality results. Maintain support documentation with up to date processes and procedures and continually reviews priorities and makes decisions on things that are most critical to the organization.
5.Translates complex Functional Specifications to detail Technical Designs regarding the Enterprise cloud architecture/services and security requirements. Provide input, guidance and recommendations on Technical Designs developed by other team members.
6.Develops creative solutions for complex enhancements and implementations. Provides resources and guidance to achieve objectives and solicits input from team members to design systems that allow Wawa to retain its technological edge and success in the market.
7.Technical consultant for the team and internal business teams; Serves as an expert in technical field of knowledge.
8.Engages with others (internal/external) to share best practices, information, and experiences. Works with group to define norms and ground rules and ensures they are respected and followed.
9.Works with external teams to establish performance baselines; Define monitor systems performance and tuning for peak performance for data traffic and security within all aspects of the extended and external cloud resources where possible.
10.Develops and coaches organization on technical components, particularly around Amazon Web Servers, but others as well Providers (i.e. AWS, Google, AT&T, Verizon, Microsoft), concepts(ie. SES, RC2, S3, CloudFront, CloudFormation, VPC, ELB, Auto Scaling, DirectConnect, Route 53, SNS, SDKs and IDE kits, SQS, etc.).
11.Develops necessary documentation for any modified or develop components, software and processes/procedures.
12.Engages with Engineering team and other ITPS departments to establish appropriate security models for enhancements and changes as well as training downstream support personnel on technology components.
13.Works with IT and outside vendors to resolve technology challenges in a proactive manner. Develops and maintains processes and procedures and standard operating procedures as appropriate.
14.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
15.Coaches and mentors other team members in their development and implementation of LAN/WAN technologies; provides constructive suggestions as to recommended processes, procedures and templates. Actively seeks opportunities for roles which provide career growth for Associates; serves as a resource and knowledge expert to ITPS Engineering Manager in the project areas.

Basic Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a technical discipline (e.g., engineering) or equivalent.preferred
2. 7 to 10 plus years of related work experience
3. 2+ years of cloud development, implementation and design experience.
4. Network Certification a Plus (CCDA ideal, CCNA (Security, Data Center, and/or Collaboration emphasis preferred)
5. Experience as Team Lead, Supervisor or other leadership position
6. Experience with various network LAN/WAN appliances: (Cisco routers and ASA systems, Barracuda, Meraki, WatchGuard, Palo Alto, NetScaler, etc.)
7. Experiences with network security and monitoring tools: (TREND Micro Intrusion Deduction, SolarWinds, Wireshark, Splunk, etc.)
8. Experience in the design and implementation of various Cloud based technologies (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
9. Strong working experience in AWS space with various AWS services and implementations (i.e. VPCs, SES, RC2, R3, Route 53, Cloud Formation, etc.)
10. Strong knowledge of core network concepts and standards including: (PCI-DSS, OWASP (WAF concepts and other related), ANSI, IETF, IEEE, PGP, MIME, SSL/TLS, TCP/IP, VPN, IPSec, OAuth, SAML, etc.)
11. Experience using Amazon Console as well as other cloud provider technologies (Azure, Google, etc.)
12. Proven “hands-on” Experience managing and modifying Cloud resources and VMS.
13. Strong understanding of communication and networking components within the Cloud framework.
14. Good understanding of Unix based operating systems, shell environments, and applications related to service provider networking.
15. Advanced understanding and experience integrating with and designing for SaaS providers (Salesforces, Successfactors, etc.)
16. Strong skillset in the implementation of security standards in code such as OAuth, SAML, and other Tokenization and authentication methods and systems.
17. Extremely strong experience in core development processes including SDLC and Agile.
18. Strong experience designing and implementing custom tools within the cloud space (Sophos applications, TREND Applications, etc.)
19. Strong understanding of Internet Service provider frameworks and Cloud Technologies and services (ie. Internet backbone architectures, Google Cloud, AWS, Verizon hosting services, Rackspace, etc.)
