We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to design, build, and optimize cloud-based solutions for a Payment Gateway Development Project. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in AWS architecture, event-driven design, microservices, and API management (Kong). The architect will be responsible for defining scalable, secure, and high-performing architectures across AWS, with additional exposure to Azure and GCP

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & Design

• Design, implement, and oversee cloud-based solutions for the payment gateway platform.

• Architect highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructures on AWS, leveraging key services like:

• Networking: VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, and Cloud WAN

• Compute: ECS, EKS, EC2, Lambda

• Database: RDS (Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL), DynamoDB

• Data & AI Services: Glue, SageMaker, Bedrock

• Define architecture patterns for Event-Driven, Microservices, and Serverless architectures.

Solution Architecture

• Collaborate with development teams to design end-to-end solutions for high-traffic payment gateway systems.

• Integrate Kong API Gateway for traffic management, security, and observability.

• Ensure system reliability, performance optimization, and cost efficiency through architectural best practices.

• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, standards, and documentation.

Cloud Governance & Security

• Define and enforce cloud governance, compliance, and security policies (IAM, KMS, CloudTrail, Config).

• Implement disaster recovery and backup strategies aligned with business continuity plans.

• Ensure PCI DSS and other payment security standards are incorporated into designs.

Cross-Cloud Exposure

• Provide architectural guidance and strategy for multi-cloud or hybrid setups involving Azure and GCP.

• Evaluate cloud services across providers to determine optimal use for specific business requirements.

Development & Integration

• Work closely with Java development teams for application integration and performance tuning.

• Enable DevOps practices with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline).

• Collaborate with data and analytics teams using AWS Glue, SageMaker, and Bedrock for AI/ML integrations.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead technical discussions, mentoring engineers and developers on cloud-native design principles.

• Act as the primary technical advisor for the project’s cloud strategy and execution roadmap.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including security, networking, and application teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 14+ years of overall IT experience with 5+ years in cloud architecture (AWS-focused).

• Strong hands-on expertise in:

• AWS: Network, Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, ECS, EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, Glue, SageMaker, Bedrock

• Kong API Gateway setup and management

• Event-Driven Architecture, Microservices, and Java-based applications

• Solid understanding of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).

• Familiar with Azure and GCP services and their interoperability strategies.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional) preferred.

• Experience in payment systems or fintech domain is an added advantage.

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or equivalent

• Azure Solutions Architect Expert / Google Professional Cloud Architect

• Kong Gateway Developer / Architect Certification (if available)
