Clinical Documentation Coordinator
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Model: Hybrid after 6-month probationary period
Position Summary
Responsible for improving the accuracy, quality, and completeness of clinical documentation to ensure appropriate reimbursement and accurate reflection of patient acuity. Works collaboratively with physicians, nursing, HIM, and coding teams in a DRG-based inpatient environment.

Requirements
Education & Experience (one required):
RN graduate with 3+ years of clinical nursing experience and 3+ years of Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience
International Medical Graduate with 3+ years of acute care experience and 3+ years of CDI experience
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare-related field with 3+ years of inpatient Health Information Management experience and 3+ years of CDI experience
Licensure/Certification (one pathway required):
Option 1: Valid license by the State of Nevada to practice as a Registered Nurse and one of the following, Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS), Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist-Outpatient (CCDS-O) or Certified Document Improvement Practitioner (CDIP).
Option 2: An international medical graduate degree and one of the following: Certified Document Improvement Practitioner (CDIP), Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS), Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist-Outpatient (CCDS-O).
Option 3: Certification in one of the following: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), issued by the American Health Information Management Association, Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder-Physician-based (CPC-P), AND one of the following: Certified Document Improvement Practitioner (CDIP), Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS), Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist-Outpatient (CCDS-O).
Key Responsibilities
Review clinical documentation to identify opportunities for improvement
Collaborate with providers to clarify diagnoses, procedures, and severity of illness
Ensure documentation supports accurate coding, DRG assignment, and reimbursement
Educate clinical staff on documentation best practices and regulatory requirements
Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and regulatory guidelines
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an office or remote setting with prolonged computer use
Ability to lift up to 10 lbs as needed
