WHAT IS ON OFFER 

Alfred H Knight has an opportunity for a Client Liaison Support - Geochemistry to join the team in Johannesburg at our Greenstone Hill branch. This individual will focus on building strong client relationships, ensuring delivery quality, resolving issues, and coordinating communication between clients and internal technical/laboratory teams across Africa and Middle East.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight the incumbent will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Responsibilities: 

Client Relationship Management: 

Process and manage client instructions and ensure instructions are clear.  

Act as the main point of contact for clients requesting geochemical analysis or interpretation.

Build and maintain long-term, trust-based relationships with clients, to understand their geochemical needs and expectations.

Communicate client feedback, concerns, and requirements to internal teams promptly.

Communication and Coordination: 

Ensure smooth information flow between clients and the geochemistry department — from initial queries to delivery of results, reports, and invoicing.

Regularly update clients on project progress, laboratory turnaround times, quality issues, or analytical challenges.

Assist clients and internal parties with sample logistics to the various analytical facilities. 

Coordinate client site visits and meetings with internal parties.

Service Quality and Satisfaction: 

Monitor client satisfaction and escalate any issues to laboratory operations, quality team or management for swift resolution.

Work with internal teams to ensure services meet contractual commitments, quality standards, turnaround expectations, and industry best practices.

Track feedback, advocate for necessary improvements, and contribute to continuous enhancement of client service processes. 

Work closely with the marketing and business development team. 

Reporting and Documentation: 

Maintain accurate records of client interactions including feedback, service requests, technical queries, and resolutions.

Prepare client status reports and insights for senior management on trends, opportunities, or recurring concerns.

Business Development Support: 

Identify cross-selling opportunities. 

Support tenders and proposal submissions.

Track market trends in mining and exploration sectors.

Assist in onboarding new clients

Other responsibilities: 

The post holder must adhere to the Company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures. Any deviations to be brought to the attention of management. 

Undertaking Ad-hoc projects and other duties of an appropriate nature in consultation with the Geochem Lead.

Required Competencies: 

Technical Knowledge - Requires a basic understanding of geochemical sampling and laboratory processes, including sample preparation and common analytical techniques in the geochemistry field. Knowledge of laboratory quality systems such as ISO/IEC 17025 and general QA/QC principles (standards, blanks, and duplicates) is important to ensure accurate communication of analytical services and results to clients.

Skills - Strong communication, coordination and client relationship management skills are essential to effectively interact with clients and internal laboratory teams. Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in tools such as Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) are also necessary.

Behaviours - The role requires professionalism, integrity, and a strong customer-service orientation. Must demonstrate reliability, responsiveness to client needs, and the ability to work collaboratively with laboratory staff. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are key behaviours for success.

Required Worked Experience: 

5-10 years’ working experience in a geochemistry, mineral analysis, or mining laboratory environment.

Experience in client services, laboratory coordination, preferably within the mining and exploration field.

Experience working within a quality-controlled laboratory environment, with an understanding of standards such as ISO/IEC 17025.

Demonstrated experience handling client communication, quotations, sample submissions, and reporting of analytical results.

Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and laboratory reporting systems is advantageous.

Experience working with mining or exploration companies in Southern Africa would be beneficial.

Required Qualifications: 

Higher National Diploma in Geochemistry or Analytical chemistry would be an advantage. 

Travel: 

Local and international travel will be required at times. 

Must have a valid passport.
