Job Title: Cleared Senior Technical Writer

Location: Fairfax, VA

Contract Length: This is 4.5 months to hire, however, have waited longer to convert. Set expectation at 9 months and if conversion occurs earlier it will just make us look good.

Hourly Rate: $55/hour is the max for candidates at $100k.

Top Skills: 15 years work experience (this does not have to be in tech writing, but something literature/english related);

An Active Secret Clearance or Top Secret clearance required

Job Description for Proposal Technical Writer (Senior)

Responsibilities:

· Responsible for writing RFI and RFP responses across the health care marketplace to include government, pharmaceutical, payer and provider.

· Con­fers with internal and external stakeholders to estab­lish tech­ni­cal spec­i­fi­ca­tions for pro­pos­als and presentations.

· Respon­si­ble for writ­ing and edit­ing tech­ni­cal doc­u­men­ta­tion for the organization’s prod­ucts and offer­ings.

· As an inte­gral part of the cross-?functional nature of the con­sul­tancy indus­try, this per­son must have extensive research skills and the abil­ity to learn about the pro­posed products/ser­vices and trans­late what he/she learned into appropriate briefs for staff and pro­pos­als for customers.

· Must be able to build news arti­cles to reflect the company’s achieve­ments and functions.

· Must be able to orga­nize his/?her ideas and be able to translate tech­ni­cal terms into text that any reader can understand.

· Com­plete writ­ing assign­ments accord­ing to set stan­dards regard­ing order, clar­ity, con­cise­ness, style, and terminology.

· Man­age mul­ti­ple assign­ments simul­ta­ne­ously, while work­ing independently and with other writers.

· Select pho­tographs, draw­ings, sketches, dia­grams, and charts to illustrate material.

· Arrange for typ­ing, dupli­ca­tion, and dis­tri­b­u­tion of mate­r­ial if needed. Assist in lay­ing out mate­r­ial for publication.

· Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

· May lead and direct the work of others.

· Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

· A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

Education/Experience:

· Requires a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or technical writing and a mini­mum of 15 years’ experience in health related proposal tech­ni­cal writ­ing to include writing/editing technical documentation, procedures, and guidelines.

· Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

· Must also have excel­lent ver­bal com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills.

· Must be flex­i­ble and have abil­ity to inter­act with all lev­els of cus­tomers or company’s staff.

· Must be a highly moti­vated indi­vid­ual able to grasp com­plex tech­nolo­gies, tools or knowl­edge and learn quickly.

· Must have a demon­strated abil­ity to work within tight deadlines. Advanced com­puter skills espe­cially Microsoft Word, Microsoft Pow­er­Point, Pho­to­shop and HTML expe­ri­ence is a must.

· A Secret Clearance is required.

· preferred: A sam­ple of prior work be pre­sented at interview
