Overview of Job Description

ABM Facility Services UK is seeking to hire a dedicated Cleaner/Waste Operative for night shifts at a prominent client location in Darlington. This role requires a strong team player capable of working in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment. Our staff are essential to providing exceptional janitorial and waste removal services to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Requirements:
Main Duties & Responsibilities:

· Efficiently perform janitorial and waste management tasks within a warehouse environment.

· Maintain cleanliness in welfare areas (washrooms, break rooms, canteens), social areas (reception, offices, locker rooms), and production floors.

· Handle waste produced on-site according to approved waste streams, ensuring it is adequately prepared for removal.

· Operate cleaning equipment including walk-behind and ride-on sweepers and scrubber-dryers, ensuring that all equipment is clean and well-maintained.

· Respond promptly to spillages and calls from the client’s on-site team.

· Maintain clear communication with team members and the line manager.

· Adhere to Health & Safety regulations by wearing appropriate PPE.

· Work independently while also collaborating as part of a team.

· Complete necessary training on cleaning methods and equipment.

Person Specification:

· Must pass a basic DBS check and show knowledge of health and safety standards or be willing to learn.

· Previous knowledge of cleaning techniques is an advantage but not essential.

· High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

· Capable of adapting quickly to a busy operational environment.

· Reliable, flexible, and physically fit for active duties.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Essential:

· Willingness to undergo the company’s screening procedures, including basic DBS checks and random drug and alcohol testing.
