Class 1 (HIAB Crane) Driver

We’re looking for a Class 1 (HIAB Crane) Driver to help keep our projects moving efficiently and safely.

How You’ll Contribute

As a Class 1 Driver, you’ll be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of equipment, materials, and supplies to and from our project sites. Using a HIAB crane-equipped vehicle, you’ll deliver, load, and unload materials while ensuring compliance with safety standards and site requirements. Your expertise will support project crews, maintain productivity, and uphold MacKay’s reputation for excellence.

What You’ll Get to Do

Operate Class 1 vehicles equipped with HIAB cranes for loading, unloading, and transporting materials

Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring the vehicle and equipment are safe and operational

Deliver materials and equipment to various civil and mining project sites, coordinating with project teams as needed

Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies, maintaining a strong safety-first approach

Assist crews with on-site rigging and material placement using the HIAB crane

Maintain accurate vehicle logs, load sheets, and inspection records

Report maintenance issues, incidents, or site hazards promptly to supervisors

Who You Are

You are a skilled Class 1 driver with a safe driving record and experience operating HIAB cranes. You take pride in precision, teamwork, and maintaining equipment in top condition. You’re reliable, adaptable, and committed to safety in every task.

You have:

A valid Class 1 driver’s license with a clean driving record

Certified to operate HIAB cranes and loading/unloading materials safely

Knowledge of vehicle inspection, maintenance, and safe load handling procedures

Ability to read and interpret site plans, load sheets, and delivery instructions

Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams

Even better if you have:

Experience in heavy civil construction or mining operations

WHMIS, TDG, and other relevant safety certifications

Familiarity with roadbuilding, utilities, and mine infrastructure work sites
