Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Engineer III – Civil (Site Development & Permitting) to support physical substation projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on civil engineer who can actively perform grading and site design work in AutoCAD Civil 3D — not just review or manage.
The ideal candidate will have direct experience in civil site development, grading, drainage design, erosion control, and permitting support for infrastructure or utility-scale projects. Substation experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Civil engineering expertise in the identification, analysis, and resolution of site development and permitting challenges
• Hands-on grading design using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Development of site layouts, drainage plans, stormwater management systems, and erosion & sediment control plans
• Preparation of technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
• Support for environmental and local permitting processes
• Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of assigned work
• Evaluation of engineering alternatives and preparation of sound technical recommendations
• Clear presentation of technical findings to internal teams and external stakeholders
• Continuous improvement of engineering, technical, and professional skills
• Accurate documentation and record keeping
Requirements :
• 4–8 years of experience as a practicing civil engineer OR state registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
• Strong hands-on grading experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D (must be able to “do,” not just oversee)
• PE license preferred or actively pursuing PE within 6–12 months
• Experience with civil site development, drainage, and stormwater design
• Proficiency in engineering theories and principles
• Experience researching design issues, evaluating alternatives, and making sound recommendations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic background
