Civil Engineer (4-7 years)

Coffman Engineers Raleigh office is seeking a self-motivated, technically minded Civil Engineer with four to seven years of experience who is competent in Civil 3D and CAD and has experience implementing civil engineering design packages through Design Development and Construction Drawings. This engineer should have the ability to think independently, manage assignments, and assist with the delivery of drawing packages. This engineer will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment, where you may be responsible for multiple parallel assignments.

Essential Engineering Skills and Functions:

• The applicant must work well in a team setting and be willing to work diligently to learn new skills.
• Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale. 
• Possess a demonstrated ability to learn quickly and technical proficiency in a range of engineering principles is a requirement.
• Learn to exercise of judgment on details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
• Read, understand, and design topographic data sets.
• Strong organizational, technical, and communications skills.
• Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel preferred. 
• Competent in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
• 4 - 7 years of applicable industry experience.
• Experience with Site Grading, Earthwork Calculations, Road Design, Drainage (Calculations & Reports), Utility Layout & Sizing, Technical Report Writing.
• Construction Documentation experience on Commercial, Institutional, and Residential projects
• Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required.
• LEED Green Associate Certification preferred.
