The BVI Financial Services Commission (“the Commission”) is seeking caring, responsible, and enthusiastic individuals to join its After School Program as a Child Caregiver/ Child Care Worker.
The ideal candidates will provide attentive and engaging supervision for children of employees during after-school hours, while ensuring a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. Applicants must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
Candidates must demonstrate a passion for working with children, the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, maintain confidentiality, and uphold the Commission’s standards of professionalism and care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children enrolled in the After School Programme.
Engage children in age-appropriate educational and recreational activities.
Assist with homework and promote good study habits.
Create a positive and inclusive atmosphere through respectful and empathetic communication.
Support social development and conflict resolution among children.
Maintain daily attendance records and incident logs as needed.
Communicate with parents and guardians in a professional and respectful manner.
Ensure that the childcare area is kept clean, organized, and well-stocked.
Follow all Commission policies and guidelines regarding child supervision and care.
Perform any additional duties assigned to support the smooth operation of the After School Programme.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Required:
Certification in Child Development or Early Childhood Education is an asset.
At least two (2) years’ experience working with children in a structured setting (e.g., school, daycare, summer camp).
First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to manage groups of children with patience, kindness, and consistency.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
A responsible and proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Familiarity with child safety protocols and behavior management strategies.

Continuous Improvement – Demonstrates a willingness to learn and develop new skills related to child development, safety, and enrichment activities.
Confidentiality – Maintains the privacy of all children and families in the programme and does not disclose personal or sensitive information without proper authorization.
