Job Title: Child Care Inclusion Specialist

Employment Status: Regular part-time

Job Summary
Reporting to the Team Leader of Childcare Services, the Childcare Services Inclusion Specialist is responsible for the effective delivery of the support and resources for all OneSky Childcare Centres with a focus on enhancing inclusive childcare services.
The Childcare Services Inclusion Specialist supports site leaders and front-line staff to create inclusive and inspiring childcare environments. The consultant supports families with referrals to other support services while their child attends One Sky childcare programs.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education, with a minimum of five-year experience or a combination of related training and experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience working with computers, including proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Ability to work effectively with families, childcare staff professionals, community members and potential service providers.
Demonstrated knowledge of child growth development.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops and training.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of family centered practice early intervention, child development, and services that support children with developmental delays and their families.
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate early childhood practice and inclusion, and the ability to model and communicate these concepts to staff, childcare settings and families.
Knowledge and skills of both Reggio programming and the Early years Framework
Responsibilities
Support staff in creating a Reggio inspired classroom with connection to the Early Years Framework.
Develop peer networking and support opportunities for staff at OneSky childcare centers.
Collaboratively facilitate the development and implementation of individual service plans for children that reflect the choices and priorities identified by their families while the family is waiting for referred services.
Maintain and manage OneSky childcare centre owned toys, equipment, and resources, including cleaning and regular (at minimum annual) safety checks of all toys and equipment.
Implement and manage a system to share toys, equipment, and resources between centres, including delivery and pickup.
Provide training and workshops for OneSky childcare staff.
Coordinate support between staff and site leaders around environmental changes.
Coordinate services to parents.
Maintain appropriate records and information systems.
Participate in the recruitment process as required including, orientation and training.
Assist with the development, production, and distribution of the newsletter and documentation of child-lead learning to parents and staff.
Maintain a commitment to maintaining inclusive quality service environments which provide participants with respect, and value their choices and abilities.
Maintain confidentiality.
Coordinate and/or participate in team meetings with families and staff meetings for OneSky childcare, as required.
As requested, provide information and resources to the family regarding child’s specific developmental delay, to enhance their knowledge of child development.
As request provide information and resources to site leaders and childcare staff.
Support the family in their role as advocates for their child and when appropriate, advocate for/ with them
Make referrals to relevant community resources, programs, and agencies, as required and requested by families.
Provide information, resources, suggestions, strategies, and training to support inclusive practices, family-centered and culturally appropriate practices in childcare settings.
Support and maintain CQI initiatives and accreditation requirements.
Participate in OneSky meetings and events as required.
Support the mission, vision, and values of OneSky.
Perform any related duties which may be assigned and/or required to maintain the operations and integrity of the program.
