Summary:
The Chief People Officer will architect and lead the people strategy across multiple companies and states. They will cultivate a unified culture and oversee senior HR leaders, such as the Culture and Talent Director and Compliance Specialist. As a key executive, they ensure excellence in talent strategy, leadership development, ESOP engagement, and multi-entity, multi-state compliance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership
Provide strategic direction and oversight to the HR Culture & Talent Director, ensuring effective execution of all HR initiatives and talent acquisition.
Develop and drive a comprehensive people strategy aligned with organizational goals.
Set strategic goals for employee career mapping and training.
Mitigate talent, cultural and legal risk by aligning people strategy with business goals.
Establish priorities, KPIs, and accountability across HR, culture, and talent functions.
Culture
Shape and align culture across multiple companies and states.
Help manage the ESOP committee by working with the committee chairperson to drive employee ownership mentality and culture.
Working across departments to help drive the core values and overall vision of the company.
Compliance
Oversee multi-state and multi-entity HR compliance through the compliance specialist, covering labor laws, benefits, and employee relations.
Develop and oversee the management training for HR compliance with our operational leaders.
Maintain executive oversight of HR compliance, policies, and risk management.
Strategic Planning:
Act as the strategic architect, aligning human capital strategy with business goals.
Qualification Requirement:
Experience:
10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including senior or executive roles.
Proven success in multi-state and multi-company HR strategy
Experience leading through other HR leaders (not just direct execution).
Experience in talent, leadership development and expertise in Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP’s) a plus.
Experience in the construction services space a plus.
Education, Licensing & Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or related field, (Masters Preferred) .
SHRM-SCO, SPHR, or equivalent certifications are a plus.

Understanding of construction HS&E standards and practices.

Creative thinking and the ability to develop engaging content.
Analytical & Decision-Making Skills:
Analytical skills to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
Collaboration & Independence:
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

This position typically operates in an office environment but may require occasional travel for meetings, events, and conferences.
Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours may be required during peak campaign periods or events. Ability to travel throughout North America as needed. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
