Ratcliff Companies is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive leadership team.
This is an opportunity to step into a well-established, financially sound organization with nearly 100 years of history, strong operational acumen, and a reputation built on relationships, integrity, and performance. We are looking for a leader who can step in, lead with confidence, and continue strengthening what already exists.
The CFO serves as a key strategic partner to ownership and executive leadership; requiring a balance of financial leadership, operational partnership, ongoing refinement of systems, and leadership development across the organization.
The right candidate will bring both confidence and sound judgment with the ability to earn trust quickly and contribute at a high level within an established environment. Opportunity to work from our Alexandria or Baton Rouge, LA locations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
Provide financial insight and guidance to ownership and executive leadership
Support strategic planning, growth initiatives, and long-term financial positioning
Translate financial performance into clear, actionable insights
Financial Planning & Analysis
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
Oversee job cost reporting, WIP, and cost-to-complete accuracy
Ensure financial data is timely, accurate, and actionable
Perform and oversee budget variance analysis, including year-over-year and month-to-month financial comparisons, to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and drive informed decision making.
Operational Partnership
Work closely with Operations and Project Teams to align financial performance with execution
Provide visibility into job profitability, backlog, and resource planning
Support leaders in understanding financial impacts of decisions
Accounting, Controls & Compliance
Oversee accounting functions, financial reporting, and consolidations across entities
Maintain strong internal controls and regulatory compliance
Lead audit processes and manage external auditor relationships
Oversee tax strategy in coordination with external advisors
Capital Strategy & Financial Management
Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and capital structure
Oversee cash flow, liquidity, and capital allocation
Support surety relationship with bonding capacity strategy and financial positioning and reporting
Risk Management
Partner with leadership on insurance programs, claims trends, and cost of risk
Provide financial insight into contractual and operational risk exposure
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and develop the finance and accounting team, including four degreed accountants
Strengthen leadership capability across the organization through coaching and accountability
Promote clarity in expectations, ownership, and performance standards

What You Bring
15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
Strong background in construction or project-based financials (WIP, job costing, forecasting)
Experience in multi-entity or complex organizational structures
Proven ability to lead teams and partner effectively with operations
Strong business judgment and communication skills
CPA | MBA preferred
