Sounds great – what’s the role in a nutshell?

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall technical operations and maintenance of the vessel, ensuring all engineering systems function safely, efficiently, and in compliance with maritime regulations. This role leads the engineering team, manages preventive and corrective maintenance, oversees fuel and energy usage, and collaborates closely with the Captain and shore-based teams to support optimal vessel performance.

Your passion is:

Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of all machinery and systems on board, including the main engines, generators, HVAC systems, and electrical systems. 

Manage and supervise the engineering crew. 

Monitor fuel and water consumption and ensure efficient operation. 

Maintain the vessel's records and reports related to engineering operations. 

Oversee and coordinate vessel repairs and maintenance, including dry dock periods. 

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and policies. 

Maintain an inventory of spare parts and supplies. 

Ensure that all safety equipment and systems related to engineering operations are in working order. 

Arrange the night shift of engineering crew team members. 

What are we looking for?

Valid Chief Engineer Certificate, as required by STCW. 

Valid Seafarer's Medical Certificate. 

STCW Basic Safety Training Certificate (seaman book or matricula). 

Other relevant certificates, such as Marine Electrical Systems or Engine Room Resource Management. 

3 to 5 years of experience in similar positions

English proficiency 

Strong technical knowledge and experience in marine engineering. 

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 

Good communication and leadership skills. 

Good knowledge of environmental regulations and policies. 

Strong organizational and administrative skills.
