Job Summary
• This role is responsible for designing, developing and implementing chemical engineering solutions by applying developed subject matter knowledge. The role develops operating procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance plans for large-scale chemical process equipment, and actively participates in issue diagnosis, problem-solving, and continuous improvement efforts. The role collaborates and communicates with management, internal teams, and outsourced research and development partners, and leads a project team to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions for moderately complex products.
Responsibilities
• Designs engineering solutions for chemical- based processes, technologies, and formulations for product design and manufacturing based on established chemistry and engineering principles and guidelines.
• Develops and implements chemical processes and operating equipment specifications, chemical formulations, and test plans for new and existing products.
• Develops operating procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance plans for large scale chemical process equipment.
• Assists with issue diagnosis and problem-solving, while aiming for continuous improvement; ensures compliance with necessary internal and extrenal regulations.
• Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced research and development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
• Leads a project team of other chemists and chemical engineers and internal and outsourced research and development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for moderately-complex products.
• Represents the chemistry team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.
• Delivers professionally written reports, and supports realization of operational and strategic plans.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members to set an example of chemical design innovation and excellence.
Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in chemistry practices, lab procedures, process improvement, people management, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.
