This position serves as a Certified WIC Nutrition Technician (CWNT), assisting with the delivery of WIC services at the Neighborhood Servies Organization WIC clinic to ensure the provision of high-quality, cost-efficient, culturally sensitive services that comply with all Federal, State, and local agency policies and procedures.
Duties for this position include but are not limited to determining income eligibility, and health status, screening interviews, providing health care and other referrals to community services, assisting in collecting measurements, providing nutritional counseling, conducting nutrition classes, breastfeeding support, and providing WIC benefit food packages to certified clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Complete WIC appointments
Obtain weight, height and hemoglobin
Assess nutritional needs
Provide nutrition education
Documentation and data entry
Maintain accurate records
Teach nutrition classes
Customer service
Health education and referrals
Assign WIC benefits
Breastfeeding promotion and support
Attend meetings and trainings
Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Requirement: A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Experience in customer service is required. Clearance of background check and drug screen. Upon hire you must successfully complete OSDH curriculum and receive your CPA certification.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual in English/Spanish
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Must be dependable, have effective communication skills, be well organized, can prioritize, and be able to work under pressure.
Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Must be detail oriented.
Intermediate personal computer skills, such as word processing, database management, electronic mail, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Most of the time spent in this position is in a well-lit, heated, and air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
This job requires moderate physical activity performed in a primarily administrative nature.
Occasional periods of high stress.
Regular work schedule is 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. including a 45-minute lunch.
