Job Description

Job Summary

Morris Technology Solutions (MTS) is seeking an experienced Cerner CoPathPlus Consultant to support the migration of a client's Anatomic Pathology department's Cerner CoPathPlus system into another Cerner CoPathPlus hub following a recent acquisition. The consultant will lead the application build, configuration, and integration efforts to ensure seamless user migration, data integrity, and workflow alignment while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This role requires deep expertise in Cerner CoPathPlus (now part of Oracle Health Anatomic Pathology) and Anatomic Pathology workflows to minimize downtime and optimize system performance for pathologists, lab technicians, and clinicians.

Why MTS?

Founded and headquartered in San Antonio with local ownership, MTS is a fast-growing, values-based consultancy that has achieved over 100% growth since 2022. We offer an in-person, team-driven environment where you’ll learn from industry experts, gain exposure to senior leadership within our clients, and build life-long professional relationships. Our people-first culture is reflected in strong reviews on Google and Glassdoor!

Key Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end application build for migrating users, workflows, and application build from the acquired hospital's Cerner CoPathPlus instance into the acquiring entity's standardized system.

Assess current configurations in both systems, identify gaps, and design/build customizations, including interfaces, rules, dictionaries, and reports to support Anatomic Pathology processes (e.g., specimen tracking, histology, cytology, and molecular pathology).

Collaborate with pathology teams, IT staff, and stakeholders to map and migrate data elements, ensuring accurate transfer of patient records, test results, and historical data while validating for completeness and integrity.

Configure system settings for user roles, security, and access controls to align with the acquiring entity's standards.

Provide training and go-live support to end-users, including pathologists and lab personnel, to facilitate smooth adoption.

Troubleshoot issues during migration, such as interface errors or workflow disruptions, and implement fixes in real-time.

Document all build activities, configurations, and migration processes for audit and future reference.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including data privacy, quality assurance, and reporting standards.

Monitor project timelines, report progress to leadership, and recommend optimizations to reduce migration risks.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Medical Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).

Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Cerner Consultant, with at least 3 years focused on Cerner CoPathPlus

Strong knowledge of Anatomic Pathology workflows, including specimen processing, grossing, histology, and reporting.

Experience with healthcare interfaces (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and middleware integrations for LIS-EMR connectivity.

Familiarity with database management (e.g., SQL queries for data extraction/validation) and system configurations.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, acquisition-driven environment.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience with migrations involving Cerner CoPathPlus to consolidated instances, including handling multi-site configurations.

Proficiency in related tools such as Cerner Command Language (CCL), Discern Rules, or Oracle Health modules.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with clinical teams, vendors, and executives.
