Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Ceramics Technician to support the Site Operations function in Huntington Beach, CA.

This occupation requires performing chemical, mechanical, and physical property testing, including specimen preparation on ceramics and composite materials, with an emphasis on processes, their physical state, elasticity strength, optical, thermal, and electrical properties.

Position Responsibilities:

• Prepare test specimens and conduct tests in accordance with applicable documentation.

• Calculate proportions, weigh and mix chemical ingredients used in ceramics and composite formulations. Mix by manual, power driven and specialized mixing equipment.

• Dealing with Thermal protective systems

• Operate appropriate test equipment for composite material testing.

• Develop and refine fabrication and experimental composition processes.

• Perform in process verification including supporting documentation.

• Fabricate assemble, mix, and cure composition materials using contact pressure, atmospheric pressure, and augmented pressure application techniques in air-circulating high-temperature ovens, electrically heated platen presses, and autoclaves.

• Machine and form high temperature composite components utilizing mills, presses, and drilling equipment. May fabricate composite support tooling as required.

• Evaluate, calculate, and document test results.

• Record processing steps in technical record books and computer databases, maintains data documentation files of test results, and initiate and sustain equipment certification and calibration files.

• Write or assist in writing technical laboratory reports, processing instructions for non-standard fabrication approaches used in contract and development programs, and laboratory processing descriptions for the operation of laboratory equipment.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Security Clearance Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required):

• Ability to maintain Active Secret Security Clearance.

• Working with fragile material and creating one of kind items

• Ability to wear PPE Personal Protective Equipment

• Great Attention to detail

Preferred Qualification:

• Active Secret clearance or higher

• Experience with ceramics or high temperature thermal protection systems

Additional Information:

• This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation.  Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Salary Range:

$22.00 to $43.04
