The Centre Director provides strategic, operational, and academic leadership for the Dublin school, ensuring an exceptional student experience, commercial performance, and full compliance with Irish regulatory frameworks. The role combines academic leadership, operational coordination, safeguarding oversight, academic coordination, staff development, and stakeholder engagement, while also driving innovation, quality assurance, and long‑term growth. Operations and ensures the global alignment of ILSC Dublin within the ILSC Education Group.
We are looking for a strategic, values‑driven leader with deep experience in the English language education sector, someone who can guide the school through change and growth while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and student care. This role requires a confident change‑manager who can unite teams behind a clear vision, strengthen our culture, and ensure that every aspect of the student experience reflects our commitment to excellence.
Job Duties:
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Academic and Programme Leadership
Act as the senior academic director for the Centre, providing leadership, direction and oversight to the Academic Leadership Team.
Lead the Academic Management Team, working closely with the Assistant Director of Studies, Senior Teacher and Coordinators to ensure academic excellence, curriculum quality, and alignment with student needs.
Liaise with the ILSC Global Academic Affairs team to support the development of and implementation of new courses, pathways, and customised programmes.
Assure academic quality assurance through supporting the Academic Management Team to conduct observations, evaluations, and continuous improvement of the academic team.
Oversee integration between academic timetables, activities, excursions, and accommodation to ensure an exceptional learner experience.
Operational Leadership and Strategic Planning
Lead and oversee all day‑to‑day operations in the centre, including facilities, student services, logistics, timetabling, and service delivery.
Work with the Vice President of Irish Operations and ILSC Global teams to develop and implement strategic plans for growth, product development, diversification and student experience enhancement.
Own the centre’s P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and margin optimization.
Conduct quality control assessments to identify and resolve operational, client, or agent issues.
Maintain full compliance and accreditation with regulatory bodies including TrustEd, Accreditation and Coordination of English Language Services (ACELS), GNIB (Garda National Immigration Bureau) visa requirements, Health and Safety Authority, and all internal ILSC policies.
Analyse operational systems and maintain accurate policies and procedures.
Student Welfare, Safeguarding & Compliance
Serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), managing child protection, risk assessment, and safeguarding cases for adult and junior programmes in line with all regulatory requirements.
Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners.
Ensure robust systems for registration, orientation, accommodation, and extracurricular programming in line with ILSC’s global operations.
Staff Leadership, HR & Organisational Culture
Recruit, onboard, train, and manage non‑teaching staff; and lead teacher
recruitment and academic HR matters with the support of the Assistant Director of Studies.
Conduct observations, performance reviews, manage employee relations, and ensure adherence to ILSC Dublin’s HR policies and ILSC Education Group’s Global Policies.
Build a positive, collaborative, and high‑performance culture, reflecting the ILSC values.
Plan staffing for delivery and seasonal peaks, including teachers, activity leaders, and residential staff.
Sales, Marketing & Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the lead academic contact for agents, tour operators, and partners, ensuring smooth delivery for groups and individuals.
Support the ILSC global Sales Team with local insights, product knowledge, and conversion support.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and pricing to strengthen the school’s market position.
Support local marketing initiatives and represent the school in promotional activities.
Host agent visits, school tours, and partner meetings.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:

Passionate about English language teaching.
Education and Experience Required
English language teacher training/development programme at Level 9 on the NFQ
A recognised English language teaching qualification at diploma level (e.g. DELTA, DipTESOL, IDLTM) or equivalent
Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory frameworks (e.g. TrustEd, Interim List of Eligible Programmes (ILEP), ACELS and similar).
At least 5 years’ recent experience in the English language sector.
At least 3 years’ recent experience in senior leadership and management experience in quality English language institutions.
Experienced in teacher recruitment, induction, observation, and professional development.
Proven ability to manage timetables, resources, and academic administration. Experience handling compliance, accreditation, and quality assurance processes.
Strong track record in student support, assessment, and maintaining a high-quality learning experience.
