Cellar Door Assistant
Leonardslee Gardens & Leonardslee Wine Estate, West Sussex
Employment Type: Seasonal (Fixed-Term Contract: End of September)
About the Role:
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and customer-focused Cellar Door Assistant to join our vibrant team. This exciting seasonal position spans both the breathtaking Leonardslee Gardens and the acclaimed Leonardslee Wine Estate — offering a unique opportunity to work in a stunning heritage site and world-ranked vineyard. You'll deliver unforgettable visitor experiences, showcase our exceptional wines, and support smooth day-to-day operations in our cellar door and retail spaces.

Key Responsibilities:
Welcome visitors and provide a warm, engaging, and informative experience
Conduct wine tastings and share knowledge about our wines, vineyard, and production methods
Assist customers with purchases, handling transactions accurately via the till system
Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the cellar door, tasting areas, and retail displays
Support stock management, including restocking shelves and monitoring inventory levels
Assist with events, tours, and private tastings as required
Work collaboratively with the wider team across both the gardens and wine estate
Ensure compliance with licensing laws and health & safety standards
Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in hospitality, retail, or customer-facing roles is preferred
A genuine passion for wine (formal qualifications are a bonus — full training provided!)
Outstanding communication and people skills
Confidence in interacting with diverse visitors and groups
Available to work Sundays and flexible with other days/shifts
Proactive mindset, positive energy, and keen eye for detail
