Farmers Depot is seeking a Category Specialist to support the growth and performance of key product categories. Reporting to the Category Manager, this role plays a hands-on part in pricing analysis, marketing execution, vendor coordination, and sales enablement.

Working with us:
This is a permanent, full-time role based in either our Cambridge, Ontario, Red Deer, Alberta, or Lethbridge, Alberta office. Our typical hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
From time to time, a bit of flexibility outside these hours may be needed depending on business needs. Occasional travel may also be part of the role, including attending trade shows or visiting farms to gather product feedback.
What you’ll do:
Category & Pricing Support
Monitor competitor pricing and market activity
Prepare pricing and margin analysis to inform category decisions
Support development of retail, dealer, promotional, and volume pricing
Assist with sales forecasting for new products (6–12 month outlooks)
Support SKU rationalization and regulatory compliance initiative
Marketing Execution & Product Content
Partner with the GVF marketing team to execute product campaigns across flyers, website, email, social, digital ads, catalogues, and retail locations
Support new product launches with accurate and timely marketing materials
Maintain customer-facing product information (descriptions, images, documentation)
Contribute to bi-annual catalogue production and vendor coordination
Vendor & Internal Coordination
Work with vendors to secure promotional support and funding
Participate in vendor planning meetings
Communicate product updates and changes internally
Support equipment installation coordination when required
Your background includes:
2–4 years of experience in category support, marketing, sales support, procurement, product management, or a related role
Post-secondary education in business, marketing, procurement, agriculture, or a related field (preferred)
Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Analytical mindset with a desire to develop strategic capabilities
Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally
Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
Agricultural, farming, or animal health background is an asset
