Job Summary
The Casual Senior Supportive Living/Community Worker plays a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives within their communities. This position includes participation in the on-call rotation and may involve stepping into the Acting Senior Worker role during periods of vacation or approved leave. In this capacity, the Casual Senior Worker assumes full responsibilities of the regular Senior Worker.
Working under the guidance of the CLS Team Leaders and in collaboration with the Director, senior worker team, and OneSky leadership, this role provides direct support to participants and mentorship to frontline staff. The position emphasizes empowerment, inclusion, and the holistic well-being of participants.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Support
Collaborate with regular Senior Workers and frontline staff to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
Provide orientation, training, and mentorship to Supportive Living and Community Resource Workers.
Offer guidance on policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance participant development.
Assist with scheduling and operational needs as they arise.
Program Oversight
Participate in the CLS on-call rotation, responding to after-hours calls related to emergencies, critical incidents, staffing, and facility issues.
Support the implementation and evaluation of Personal Service Plans (PSPs) for participants.
Contribute to staff performance feedback and development planning.
Participant Support
Deliver life skills training in areas such as personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, and financial management.
Assist with daily living activities including hygiene, grooming, feeding, and toileting.
Facilitate community engagement through transportation and support for appointments, shopping, and recreational activities.
Provide emotional support and maintain strong communication with participants and their families.
Health & Safety
Administer medications in accordance with policy.
Respond to and de-escalate emergency situations, ensuring participant and public safety.
Report incidents and concerns to the Team Leader promptly.
Administrative & Operational Duties
Maintain accurate documentation including logs, reports, and statistics.
Identify and connect participants with relevant community resources.
Perform light housekeeping and maintenance tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
Certificate in a related human services, social services, or community living field.
Preferred two (2) years of recent, relevant experience.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience is an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ShareVision.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to changing situations.
Capable of working independently while following direction.
