Embrace Excellence

The Macallan Cask Operations team plays a critical role in delivering exceptional quality casks for our ultra-premium brands by taking control of our Sherry cask supply chain, where we are significantly investing in Coopers Oak, to transform Cask Supply for all brands and business units.

To realise all the benefits of that substantial investment, we are now entering a period of significant transition as we move from a third-party supply model to a fully integrated end-to-end internal supply chain that sources its own high quality American and European Oak, manufactures high quality casks, and seasons those casks with high quality sherry wine from our own vineyards. This will drive both product quality and brand provenance benefits as well as strengthening our cask sustainability credentials.

The Cask Quality Analyst will facilitate the transition process by continuing to undertake quality audits of our 3rd party cask manufacturing and seasoning suppliers while using subject matter expertise to support the development of new ways of working in our owned supply chain which ensure quality at the point of manufacturing.

The role is based in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain and will work with closely with The Macallan Estate Operations and Whisky Mastery teams, and the Liquid Quality teams based in Scotland, as well as the local operations teams across our subsidiaries in Jerez, Galicia, Cantabria and Ohio.

This is a 10 month Fixed Term contract.

Make an Impact
Cask quality control across owned sites, ensuring standards from oak sourcing to wine seasoning.
Monitoring and reporting on key quality metrics such as oak origin, manufacturing, toasting, integrity, repairs, humidity and stock levels.
Maintaining all data within the cask tracking system.
Working with operational teams to promote a culture shift from volume-focused to quality-focused operations.
Implementing third‑party cask quality audits, covering manufacturing, toasting, seasoning and post‑seasoning reviews.
Providing audit reports with timely corrective actions where non‑compliance is found.
Risk management and internal controls, producing regular reports on traceability, production, quality and dispatch.
Conducting monthly and annual stock audits, investigating variances and managing volumes in line with contracts.
Supporting cask logistics, ensuring on‑time delivery to Scotland and the Dominican Republic to meet distillery needs.
Ongoing support to cask manufacturing, including efficiency assessments, sustainability reviews and new initiatives with third parties.
Your Talent and Skills
To be successful in thi role, you have previous experience in the whisky industry, and having cask or wood supply chain knowledge or local insight into the sherry industry—is a distinct advantage. You bring a strong technical background in areas such as food science, agriculture, biology, environmental science, or engineering, and you have a solid understanding of quality standards. You communicate exceptionally well and are able to challenge and influence suppliers using a wide range of communication techniques. You also have auditing experience, are highly organised, and consistently meet required deadlines. You are competent with Microsoft Office tools, with Excel and Power BI being particularly advantageous. You are fluent in both English and Spanish.

We’ve put together some criteria that we think is important for this role, but don’t worry if your experience and expertise isn’t an exact match. If you feel that you can add value to our role and to Edrington more broadly, we would welcome your application and be eager to learn more about you.
