Position Overview
Under general supervision responsible for supporting the promotion of proper employee medical care, treatment and safe return to work by serving as an interface between the worker, medical professionals, local hospitals, workers’ compensation service agency, and the organization. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Functional:
Assists with first aid and related services to employees or persons who become ill or injured at work facilities
Aids in the administration of health management programs such as workers' compensation, long-term disability, and wellness programs
Accompanies employee to the hospital/healthcare facility when the employee is transported offsite for any occupational/non-occupational injury or illness
Escorts employee to non-occupational injury/illness physician visits when requested by management or the employee
Prepares illness/accident/injury/incident reports as required
Ensures, as applicable, events are documented in the Computerized Accident/Incident Reporting System (CAIRS)
Notifies workers’ compensation insurance carrier of any potential or impending claims
Communicates the workers’ compensation process to the affected employee
Ensures the occupational medicine provider performs worker health evaluations and tests in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
Reviews the information provided by the occupational medicine provider, establishes the content of any medical evaluations/tests, and informs the worker of the purpose, nature, and frequency
Assists with communications of medical evaluation/test results and fitness for duty results to the worker
Communicates, as applicable, successful completions of return to duty examinations for entry into the Electronic Training Management System (ETMS)
Promotes the review of worker restrictions with management and site Human Resources/Labor Relations (HR/LR) to determine whether accommodations can be made
Supports maintenance of records of employees treated
Competencies:
Possesses strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with moderate attention-to-detail
Administers intermediate written and verbal communication skills
Possesses intermediate PC skills to include Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat
Conveys the ability to apply organizational practices, policies and procedures in performing a wide variety of related administrative tasks
Maintains the judgment and discretion to properly discern and safeguard highly-sensitive information and documents, including company-proprietary information, and classified or otherwise sensitive national security information
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
2+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
