Job Description
Carrier Sales Representative
Vortex Freight Systems is a third party logistics (TPL) company that focuses on delivering customized supply chain solutions for organizations with operations in Canada, USA and Mexico.
We are a modern, entrepreneurial organization that values people and service. As we continue to expand our operations and service offerings, we are excited to welcome a new member to our team, focused on building and developing the best team in the industry.
Job Overview:
Are you a master negotiator with a "get it done" attitude? We are looking for a high-energy Carrier Sales Representative. While our sales team wins the freight, you are the one who makes the wheels turn.
Your mission is simple but critical: find the right truck for the right load at the right price. You will spend your day on the front lines, building a network of reliable carriers and ensuring our customers' shipments never sit idle.
Key Responsibilities:
Source Capacity: Aggressively search internal databases, digital load boards and your personal network to secure equipment for available loads.
Negotiate Like a Pro: Engage with dispatchers and owner-operators to negotiate competitive "buy rates." You will need to balance cost-savings with the need to provide high-quality service.
Carrier Vetting: Act as the first line of defense for quality control. You will verify that every carrier has the necessary insurance, active authority, and safety ratings required to meet our standards.
Build a Network: Move beyond "one-and-done" transactions. You will develop and maintain long-term relationships with carriers to create "dedicated" lanes, ensuring we have predictable capacity.
Problem Solve: Proactively manage issues, such as equipment breakdowns or scheduling conflicts, to keep freight moving on time.
What we are looking for:
The Gift of Gab: You are comfortable making 50+ outbound calls a day and can build rapport quickly over the phone.
Resilience: The logistics industry moves fast and can be unpredictable. You need a thick skin and the ability to pivot when a plan falls through.
Detail-Oriented: One wrong digit on a rate confirmation can cause a massive headache. You take pride in accuracy.
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in freight brokerage or logistics.
Fluent in Spanish: an asset
Personal Attributes:
Accountable: Takes ownership and responsibility for outcomes.
Organized: Effectively manages daily tasks and follow-ups.
Strong communicator: Clear and professional in both Spanish and English.
Team player: Promotes collaboration and supports team development.
