Carpentry Foreman

Surespan is seeking skilled and general Carpenter work in Courtenay BC. These are all full time, permanent positions for the right candidates and provide strong opportunities for growth and stability. 

Functions of this role include:

Lead and supervise a team of carpenters on bridge construction projects

Coordinate daily tasks and work schedules with the Site Superintendent

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications

Oversee the construction of forms, falsework, and structural components

Ensure quality control and compliance with safety and building standards

Train and mentor junior carpenters and general laborers

Monitor material usage and ensure efficient job site organization

Assist with crane rigging and ensure proper hand signal communication

Conduct safety meetings and enforce safety protocols on site

Participate in project planning, problem-solving, and progress reporting

What you Bring:

Minimum 3 years of experience in carpentry, with at least 1 year in a foreman or leadership role

Bridge construction experience is highly preferred

Strong understanding of construction methods, tools, and materials

Proven ability to lead a crew effectively and maintain high standards

Commitment to safety with a valid fall protection ticket

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Physically fit and capable of lifting/moving up to 50lbs
