Purpose: A Carpenter General Foreman plays a vital role in ensuring the success of
construction projects through effective leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to
safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Supervision
• Team Management: Supervise and lead a team of carpenters, laborers, and
operators assigning tasks and ensuring proper execution. Collaborate with the project
superintendent daily to generate the days activities to include in the JSA and then
present the JSA to the team.
• Training and Development: Provide on-the-job training to carpenters and assist
with their professional development.
• Performance Monitoring: Evaluate the performance of team members and provide
feedback or take corrective actions as necessary.
Planning and Coordination
• Project Planning: Collaborate with superintendent to plan and schedule work
activities, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to.
• Resource Allocation: Use HCSS to track and manage material quantities. Manage
tools and equipment, ensuring they are used efficiently and effectively.
• Coordination: Coordinate work with other trades and subcontractors to ensure
smooth workflow and project integration.
Technical and Quality Control
• Blueprints and Specifications: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and
specifications to guide construction work. Ensure projects are built per plan and
specifications.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that all work meets quality standards and complies with
safety regulations, and project specifications.
• Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during
the construction process.
Safety and Compliance
• Safety Management: Enforce safety policies and procedures on-site to prevent
accidents and injuries.
• Inspections: Conduct regular safety and quality inspections, addressing any
violations or deficiencies promptly.
• Compliance: Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
Communication and Reporting
• Liaison: Act as a liaison between carpenters, laborers, operators, and
superintendent, ensuring clear communication and understanding of project
requirements.
• Reporting: Prepare and submit reports on project progress, workforce activities, and
any incidents or issues that occur on site, HCSS contains the proper forms to
complete these tasks.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and
hours worked. Use daily notes within HCSS to record these items along with daily
pictures of work performed.
Maintenance and Repair
• Tool Maintenance: Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and in
good working order. Delegate this task.
• Site Maintenance: Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the job site, ensuring
it is safe and operationally efficient.
Budget and Cost Control
• Cost Management: Monitor project costs (in conjunction with project team) and work
to minimize waste and inefficiencies.
• Procurement: Assist in the procurement of materials and supplies, ensuring they are
available when needed and within budget.
Key Skills and Attributes:
• Leadership: Strong leadership and motivational skills to manage and inspire a team.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of carpentry techniques, coordinate
layout, tools, and materials. In-depth knowledge of other scopes of work that KCI
self-perform i.e. earthwork, pipe installation, concrete paving, barrier, and bridge deck
placement.
• Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure quality and compliance with
specifications.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly address and resolve issues that arise on-site.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members,
management, and clients.
• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and
projects simultaneously.
