The Care and Wellness Consultant (CWC) is a full-time, administrative position reporting to the Center for Student Support and Care and serves as a key member of the non-clinical case management team. In this role, this Care and Wellness Consultant will focus on offering student support, non-clinical case management for students with mental health concerns, and consultation on student care and crises to students and staff. 

Similar to other CWC’s, this role will work to manage a variety of complex situations that may impact a student’s ability to function successfully at the University. In their work with students and staff, the CWC will help to facilitate a student’s access to, and appropriate use of, University and/or community resources. While this role will be similar to other Care and Wellness Consultants, this position will be embedded within particular programs and colleges. There will also be some inherent differences that are distinct to the needs that are to the student demographics of the program. In their work with students and staff, the Care and Wellness Consultant will possess a commitment to fostering developmental opportunities for students that are consistent with the mission of a Catholic university founded by the Congregation of the Holy Cross.

Case Management

• Provide non-clinical case management oversight for cases involving students within respective colleges and schools.
• Assist referred students in making use of University and/or community resources.
• Maintain the electronic database of case management records.
• Manage additional responsibilities that are distributed amongst the staff of the Center for Student Support and Care.

Education and Outreach

• Establish and maintain collaborative and consultative working relationships within the University, particularly, but not limited to: Undergraduate Education, College Deans and Faculty, Residential Life, Student Health and Wellness,  Notre Dame Police Department, Graduate Student Life, Financial Aid, Athletics, and Admissions.
• Train professional staff on identifying and responding to student concerns.
• Consult with professional staff on student concerns.

Recovery Support

• Work with various constituencies to help students receive emergency care as needed. 
• Provide support to psychiatrically hospitalized students and assist in transition and support post hospitalization.
• Offer support to student staff in navigating post crisis situations and attending to staff wellbeing.                                                    

CARE Team

• Coordinate and track CARE Team recommendations for referred students to ensure continuity of care. 
• Lead conversations with area staff regularly on student needs and appropriate interventions and elevate concerns to appropriate professional staff or community resources as necessary.
• Establish and maintain collaborative and consultative working relationships within the University. 
• Provide support to hospitalized students and assist in transition back to campus. 

Individual Responsibilities

• Manage additional responsibilities that are distributed amongst the staff for the Center for Student Support and Care.
• Regularly collaborates with other areas within the Division of Student Affairs (Campus Ministry, Career and Professional Development, Residential Life, Sister Thea Bowman Center, Student Development, and Student Health and Wellness), student clubs and organizations, and other University units to enhance the department’s work building connections and relationships with students.

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• 5 - 6 years experience and advanced degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education, Divinity or related field. 
• Experience within a clinical setting and managing crisis situations.
• Knowledge about developmental, psychological, social, and medical issues related to college-aged students particularly in a residential education setting.
• Creating and facilitating educational programs for college students in a developmental model.
• A commitment to the University’s Catholic identity and the ability to implement policies, programs, services and best practices that are consistent with the University’s Catholic mission, values, and teachings.

Salary: Up to $60,000
