The Capital Project Engineering Group Manager is responsible for executing engineering projects, as well as supervising a small group of project engineers and managing the project engineering project portfolio for a production site.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitoring and Reporting: Track project progress, analyze productivity, and prepare status reports for stakeholders, making adjustments as necessary to meet objectives.
Project Management: Oversee projects from conception to completion, ensuring that technical specifications and project requirements are met. Develop detailed project plans, including scope, goals, deliverables, resource allocation, timelines, and budgets.
Coordination: Act as a liaison between design and implementation teams, coordinating efforts among various stakeholders, including contractors, architects, and engineers.
Technical Guidance: Provide engineering expertise and technical support throughout the project lifecycle, addressing any technical issues that arise.
Budget Management: Monitor project costs, manage budgets, and report on financial status, making adjustments as necessary to ensure project success.
Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, including plans, designs, reports, and updates, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
Stakeholder Communication: Regularly update stakeholders on project progress, challenges, and changes in scope through reports and presentations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related field)
Experience: 8+ years of experience in project engineering or a related field and 3+ years of managerial experience in engineering projects is expected, with a proven track record of leading large-scale projects.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD, Finario) and a strong understanding of engineering principles.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
Leadership: Strong leadership and team collaboration skills, with the ability to delegate tasks effectively.
