CSSM has a contract with Canvas Health to provide regional suicide prevention outreach and presentations.
POSITION SUMMARY
Utilize a multi-sector approach to implement regional suicide prevention activities aimed at improving the overall mental health status of the community. The work will involve providing Technical Assistance to coalitions and communities. Duties will also include coordinating trainings, facilitating group meetings, and improving access to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline through community engagement efforts. This position includes some weekend and evening hours, depending on assigned community events schedules.
STANDARD RESPONSIBILITIES OF ALL EMPLOYEES

· Remain up to date regarding agency policies and procedures and perform all functions in accordance with Canvas Health policies and procedures.
· Provide the highest quality of customer service consistent with Canvas Health’s values and standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide Technical Assistance to communities-85%
· Provide Technical Assistance to communities looking to learn more about comprehensive suicide prevention.
· Lead regional meetings to strengthen statewide suicide prevention infrastructure and coordinate efforts for increased usage of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
· Partner with community coalitions to provide support around strategic planning and increasing coalition capacity.
· Partner with priority populations to assess readiness to implement evidence-based suicide prevention efforts.
· Develop and maintain competency and sensitivity in working with diverse populations within the domain of identified region.
Training Coordination: 10%
· Coordinate training and education to communities on suicide prevention and awareness topics, in partnership with the MN Suicide Prevention Trainer Network.
· Provide postvention training and support to communities.
Other Duties as Assigned: 5%
· Performs other additional responsibilities as needed by the organization.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in public health education or closely related field
· Public speaking
· Forming and maintaining effective organizational partnerships
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Public Health Educator
· Experience working with and/or delivering face to face services to diverse populations
· Knowledge of the public health approach to suicide prevention
· Experience with coalition building
· Experience with providing Technical Assistance
WORK CONDITIONS

· While performing the duties of this position the employee is frequently required to sit, hear, talk and write.
· Employee may also be required to operate a keyboard or handle objects and to reach with hands or arms.
· The employee occasionally must lift-up-to 20 pounds.
· Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
· In this position, exposures may include hostile or aggressive persons.
· This position requires the use of a personal automobile for transportation and may require frequent use for travelling between offices and for other business-related activities. Requires ability to maintain a clean driving record, a current driver’s license, and auto insurance coverage meeting Canvas Health policy limits. Use of a cell phone is required for this position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Demonstrated ability to provide the highest quality of customer service.
· Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to use good judgment in evaluation of situations and work decisions.
· Knowledge of community health promotion principles, program planning, core public health functions and community development.
· Ability to facilitate meetings, including prepping for the meeting, creating agendas, taking notes, sending out minutes, and following up.
· Ability to follow supervisor direction.
· Considerable knowledge of available resources in the region and state.
· Intermediate computer skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings, early mornings, and/or overnights.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, supervisors, community stakeholders. and public members, agency groups and to respond to concerns to improve the coordination of services.
· Ability to make decisions, exercise independent judgment, manage time, meet deadlines and function independently.
· Ability to maintain accurate records, use email and computer, work with various software and data collection programs including Word and Excel.
· Conflict resolution skills, demonstrate flexibility and implementation ability for a variety of assignments.
· Ability to interpret a variety of relatively complex instructions furnished in written, oral or list form.
· Complete provided QPR training completed within 2 weeks of employment.
· Complete provided postvention training within six months of employment.
