Quick Summary

Designers are responsible for creating unique upcycled fashion pieces using donated textiles, while also managing store operations and ensuring a wide range of products are available for customers to purchase.

Job Description

Double Take Thrift Store is a Yonge Street Mission social enterprise that works to support the community through circular fashion. The store collects donations and processes each piece with an effort to both raise money for YSM programs while keeping textile waste out of landfills. Higher value items are sold online, while more affordable goods make sustainable fashion accessible to more people through our bricks and mortar shop at Parliament and Gerrard. Textiles that can't be sold as-is are reimagined into upcycled fashions and used for lending workshops. Our team of staff and volunteers work to make sure we are making the most of every donation to make a positive impact on our community!

Double Take is seeking a part-time temporary Fashion Wear Designer (Upcycling Program Facilitator) (8 weeks for 35 hours per week). The Fashion Wear Designer will work closely with our staff and volunteers to design and produce upcycling workshops where customers can make their own upcycled or mended clothing from donated materials. If you are interested in using your fashion design and teaching skills for good, this position might be for you!
