Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking a Campus Manager to be the operational leader for our Newmarket Campus.

The main purpose of this role is to ensure the Newmarket Campus runs effectively, providing a safe, accessible, and high-performing environment for all staff, students, and visitors. You will be the key campus contact, managing shared spaces, coordinating events, and overseeing customer services.

Working closely with Campus Environment managers, you will support campus planning and continuous improvement of our physical spaces. This includes leading proposals for space planning and developing operational solutions. You will ensure high service quality by monitoring performance, engaging with stakeholders, coordinating projects, and providing monthly reports on campus operations and compliance.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Liaise closely with campus stakeholders, co-locators, and Service Divisions to ensure campus operational needs are met.
• Coordinate planned, reactive, and major building maintenance programs with stakeholders. Work with Facilities Management teams to deliver preventative maintenance schedules, ensuring construction activities minimise cost and disruption, and identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
• Lead and manage campus operations, including front-of-house services, coordinating maintenance, minor capital works projects, and managing special operational projects.
• Oversee building services and shared spaces (including maintenance, cleaning, access, and capital works), monitor service delivery for safety and compliance, and proactively communicate any issues or delays to senior leaders and stakeholders.
• Develop and implement the annual operational plan for the Newmarket Campus, ensuring it aligns with campus stakeholders and broader University strategies.
• Provide insights and information to Campus Environment managers to support their strategic planning and operational decision-making.
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and direction to casual campus staff. Your role involves promoting a team culture that is inclusive, flexible, and focused on achieving high standards.

A full description of your duties and the role are provided in the position description linked HERE.

This is a permanent, full-time position(37.5 hours per week). The salary range for this role is $95,000 to $112,500, negotiable depending on skills and experience.

He kōrero mōu | About you

We are looking for a background in facilities or commercial property management who can oversee the buildings and operations at our large Newmarket Campus. Ideally, you will have worked in a university (tertiary) setting before or have relevant experience from a trade or commercial background. You are a natural relationship builder who proactively connects and communicates effectively with a wide range of people, both inside and outside the University.

You are performance-driven, focusing keenly on achieving results and efficiency, and possess the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines effectively. You are a forward-thinker, able to anticipate long-term effects and understand complex, multi-year projects. You must be strongly focused on Health and Safety compliance in everything you do.

Once settled in the role, you will develop and implement new processes, so we need someone experienced in leading and communicating change. Formal change management training is a plus, but is not essential. Finally, while you will supervise some staff, your main focus will be on effectively managing stakeholder relationships.
