Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a well-established heavy civil construction company specializing in drilling & blasting, mass excavation, pipe and underground utilities, concrete placement, and asphalt paving. We are currently looking to hire an experienced CAD/Survey Technician to join our growing team in the HRM. This role is primarily office-based supporting our surveying department with drafting, design and project coordination, while also assisting with field surveying when required. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD abilities along with hands-on surveying experience to support both office operations and field crews.
Requirements
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in surveying and drafting, or equivalent education and training.
Diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technician, or a related field considered an asset.
Proficiency with CAD software such as Carlson, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or equivalent required.
Experience with Robotic Total Station, GNSS survey equipment, and Trimble Access preferred.
Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and specifications.
Consistently work in a safe & efficient manner.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Valid Class 5 Driver License.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain detailed CAD drawings for heavy civil construction projects.
Process and manage survey data collected from GPS and Total Station equipment.
Assist field crews with survey calculations, staking information, and project coordination.
Provide control lines and elevations required for accurate measurements and correct installation of materials.
Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and survey crews to support project requirements.
Maintain organized records of drawings, survey files, and project documentation.
Perform quality control checks on survey and drafting deliverables.
Other duties as required.
