CAD Designer (SolidWorks | Joinery) - Work From Home

The CAD Designer is responsible for producing highly detailed, production-ready 3D models and 2D workshop drawings for bespoke joinery and high-end interior fit-outs. This is a technically demanding role requiring a deep understanding of joinery construction, materials, hardware systems, and manufacturing workflows. The successful candidate will create precise, buildable designs that transition seamlessly from concept to manufacture and installation and will combine strong SolidWorks capability with real-world joinery and production knowledge.

Core Responsibilities

3D Modelling & Technical Drawing

• Produce precise 3D models and detailed 2D workshop drawings in SolidWorks.
• Develop bespoke joinery solutions for: custom cabinetry, furniture feature walls, high-end interior fit-outs
• Maintain strict control over tolerances, revisions, and documentation accuracy.
• Ensure drawings meet project specifications and quality benchmarks.

Production-Ready Documentation

• Generate: accurate cutting lists, assembly drawings, CNC-ready files
• Ensure drawings are fully buildable and ready for manufacture.
• Coordinate with production teams to refine and optimise designs.

Constructability & Problem Solving

• Resolve complex detailing challenges.
• Identify constructability risks early in the design phase.
• Review architectural and interior design documentation critically.
• Address clashes, missing details, and coordination gaps.

Manufacturing & Workflow Integration

• Work closely with factory and production teams.
• Optimise material usage and production efficiency.
• Support value engineering while maintaining craftsmanship and design integrity.
• Contribute to improving drawing standards and internal workflows.

Requirements:
• Advanced SolidWorks proficiency

• 5 years’ experience using SolidWorks in: bespoke joinery, cabinetry, high-end interior environments (required)
• Bachelor’s degree in: Design Engineering Architecture OR recognised CAD / Joinery / Manufacturing certification with equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to produce production-ready joinery drawings.
• Experience working in a factory or manufacturing-led environment.
• Understanding of CAM workflows (desirable)
