CAD Designer

Job Summary:
The Mechanical CAD Designer works with the Engineering staff and design lead to provide engineering documents, including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), site layout plans, isometrics, and other engineering documents in accordance with company design standards and client requirements. This person assists in the development of all the drawings and sketches required to complete a project design in a particular discipline. This person must also be able and willing to check their own work as well as be able to park in group reviews for projects. Communicates design issues and problems with manager and other staff as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Read and interpret P&IDs, technical drawings, and computer-generated reports.

Prepare plans, layouts, assembly drawings, detail drawings and sketches using AutoCAD-based software.

Revise existing drawings as required and correct “as-built” drawings.

Maintain accurate design and drawing archives and revision histories.

Provide direct support to the execution team regarding drafting-related questions.

Organize digital files and distribute deliverables to the intended recipients.

Required Skills & Abilities:

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Communicate effectively while working in a team environment.

Compute basic calculations.

Education & Experience:

Basic

A.S. degree or professional training in drafting and design, engineering, or related field.

Basic understanding of AutoCAD required.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong written and verbal communications skills.

The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Onsite support and travel are required occasionally.

Education & Experience:

Preferred

Experience in the oil and gas industry preferred but not required.

Experience with Bluebeam Revu

Drafting experience in AutoCAD Plant 3D or CADWorx preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time, unassisted. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate office machinery are required. This job also requires full range of body motion to include handling and lifting. The incumbent must repeatedly lift and/or move up to 30 (THIRTY) pounds unassisted. Visual acuity, hearing, speaking, reading, and writing must be adequate to perform all required tasks in a safe manner.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Work is usually done indoors and sometimes at a client facility or job site. The incumbent may be expected to travel to other work sites with prior notice.
