Cable Cutting Associate

A Cutting Associate’s job entails cutting cable to specifications outlined on Production Work Orders. This is an entry level position. This position is to work consistently with other departments to ensure the customer’s expectations are met.

Position Reports to: Production Manager

Position Status: Hourly

Perform a variety of tasks essential to the success of the cutting department:

• Cut cable specified in Production Work Orders .
• Inspect cable prior to cutting process; ensure cable provided is cable required for Production work order; advise supervisor or manager if cable provided does not match Production Work Order.

• Inspect cable prior to and during cable cutting process; identify any cable defects and notify supervisor or manager if cable defects are found.
• Check Production work orders and cable cutting tags for accuracy prior to cutting cable
• Sign Production work orders after cable is cut for Production work orders.
• Assist Cable Cutting Supervisor in pulling cable from stock location, as needed.
• Assist in maintenance of cable cutting area to include daily clean-up and preparation of cutting area for daily work.
• Assist in maintenance of cable cutting machines; advise Supervisor or manager if machines do not work properly or if safety of personnel is a concern.
• Assist supervisor in providing completed cuts of cable and production work order parts to the Production room.
• Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with ACS
• personnel and with management.
• Maintains regular contact with other departments to obtain and convey information and/or to correct  transactions.
• Assists Cutting and Production Department personnel as needed.
• Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. o Attends and participates in meetings as required.
• Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
• Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
• Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.

Skills/Qualifications:

Minimum High School graduate or equivalent is preferred but not required. Basic math and English skills are required. Must have the ability to read and comply with written and verbal instructions. Six months experience in a manufacturing/production work environment is preferred. 

Copper cable and fiber assembly knowledge is preferred.
