Business Unit Manager

What will your job look like?

We are looking for a hands-on, yet strategic Business Unit Manager to join Vandapower in Austin, Texas. You will oversee the daily operational activities of the company and report directly to the Operations Director.

This role is ideal for someone who combines practical operational oversight with a strong business mindset—someone who can jump into the details when needed, but who is equally comfortable preparing reports, contributing to board-level discussions, and driving alignment with our global strategy.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, tailor-made assembly environment, have a passion for production and logistics, and a basic knowledge of, or interest in, Supply Chain & Inside Sales - this might be the perfect role for you!

Strong insights into planning processes and a good understanding of how production planning fits into day-to-day operations are important assets in this position, as you will play a key role in ensuring operational continuity and efficiency across teams.

Your responsibilities include:

Overseeing production and logistics: Directly manage these departments, ensuring optimal performance, quality and on-time delivery.

Collaborating with global teams: Work closely with the Global Supply Chain Team Lead and Global Inside Sales Team Lead, based in Belgium, to maintain operational alignment.

Decision making support: Step in to make key decisions for the local supply chain and inside sales team when the global team leads are unavailable due to time zone difference.

Operational efficiency: Monitor and improve processes across all departments to enhance productivity and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Implementing global alignment: Lead local implementation of global systems and processes in coordination with our international teams.

KPI Management: Define, track, and act on performance indicators to meet targets and inform strategic decisions.

Team leadership: Mentor and guide team members with clarity and accountability, while maintaining a focus on high performance.

Strategic alignment: Translate business goals into actionable operational plans and support the Operations Director in rolling out the company strategy.

Cross-functional coordination: Contribute to smooth day-to-day operations by closely coordinating production schedules, material availability, and team priorities.

Are you the right person? 

You preferably have a bachelor’s degree in operations, supply chain or a related field and a track record in operations management, preferably in an assembly and logistics environment. You are a strategic thinker with a hands-on mindset, able to shift from work floor challenges to high-level planning discussions. Experience working with KPIs, reporting tools, and presenting operational insights to senior stakeholders or leadership is highly valued.

You can work under pressure, and you can adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Because we have a fast-moving and dynamic environment, you will need strong decision-making abilities. You have a proactive mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Experience with global communication or international business are a plus. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach. You have proven leadership skills with the ability to guide and inspire teams with a hands-on approach and a willingness to jump into challenges directly.
