BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION SPECIALIST
(TEMPORARY FULL TIME)
The Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is currently accepting applications for a temporary full time Business Transformation Specialist. Reporting to the VP Infrastructure and Diagnostics / CIO, this role works collaboratively with leaders, managers, and frontline teams to improve how work is done—supporting quality, efficiency, staff experience, and sustainability.
The Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is comprised of two corporations with more than 1,000 staff, including physicians and volunteers, operating three vibrant acute care hospital sites: Groves Memorial Community Hospital (Fergus), and North Wellington Health Care (Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest & Palmerston and District Hospital in Palmerston). The homesite for this position will be Groves Memorial Community Hospital.
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday, daytime hours)
Salary Range: $46.35 - $54.22 per hour
*Compensation is under review.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Business Transformation Specialist plays a key role in supporting WHCA and its partners through large‑scale transformation initiatives, including digital, operational, and organizational change. This position focuses on the people and process dimensions of transformation, while working closely with technology, clinical, and corporate leaders to ensure successful adoption of new systems and ways of working.
A significant component of this role involves supporting major change events, such as enterprise system implementations (e.g., Hospital Information Systems and back‑office platforms), service redesign, and alliance‑wide operating model changes. The role acts as a connector between strategy, technology, and frontline reality.
This position is ideal for someone who understands that successful transformation is not just about systems or structures, but about supporting people, leaders, and organizations through sustained change.
SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business & Organizational Transformation
Support the planning and execution of complex transformation initiatives across WHCA and partner organizations.
Apply structured business transformation and change management practices to support organization‑wide initiatives.
Work with senior leaders and project teams to assess readiness, identify impacts, and plan for change adoption.
Support leaders in navigating periods of high change, ambiguity, and transition.
Digital & Technology‑Enabled Transformation
Support organizational readiness, adoption, and stabilization related to major digital initiatives, including:
Hospital Information System (HIS) implementations
Shared and integrated back‑office systems (e.g., finance, HR, supply chain)
Act as a bridge between business/clinical stakeholders and technical teams to ensure changes are understood, coordinated, and embedded.
Help translate technical or system changes into clear, practical implications for teams and workflows.
Support the development and execution of change, communication, and engagement plans related to digital transformation initiatives.
Process Improvement & Ways of Working
Lead or support assessments of current‑state processes impacted by transformation initiatives.
Facilitate workshops and working sessions to define future‑state workflows, roles, and responsibilities.
Support the implementation of improved processes that align with system capabilities and organizational goals.
Assist with the identification of risks, dependencies, and inter‑organizational impacts.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Build strong working relationships with clinical leaders, corporate teams, project sponsors, and external partners.
Facilitate collaboration across organizations, departments, and disciplines.
Develop clear, concise briefing materials, presentations, and reports for leadership and governance groups.
Support consistent and transparent communication through periods of significant organizational change.
Change Sustainability & Capability Building
Support leaders and teams in sustaining change following implementation and go‑live events.
Contribute to building organizational capability in change management, transformation, and continuous improvement.
Support lessons‑learned activities and continuous refinement following major transformation milestones.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
University degree or diploma in Business Administration, Health Administration or a related field.
Experience supporting business transformation, organizational change, or large system implementations in health care or similarly complex environments.
Demonstrated experience supporting organizations through large change events (e.g., enterprise system implementations, organizational restructures, service redesign).
Strong understanding of how technology‑enabled change impacts people, workflows, and organizational culture.
Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to operate effectively in complex, multi‑organization environments.
Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
Preferred:
Experience with health information systems (HIS) or enterprise platform implementations.
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, OCM, process mapping).
