We’re seeking an organised and customer‑focused Business Support Officer to join our Planning Guidance Unit. This is a key support role where you’ll work closely with planners and stakeholders to ensure resource consent processes, financial administration, and statutory requirements are delivered accurately and on time.
Reporting to the Business Manager, you’ll play an important role in supporting outcomes that benefit our community.
In this role, you will:
• Process and monitor Resource Consent applications to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory timeframes.
• Pre‑process resource consent applications, including publicly notified applications
• Provide financial and regulatory support including invoicing, purchase orders, and monthly accounts management.
• Respond to internal and external enquiries, including Official Information (LGOIMA) requests.
• Manage external consultation for publicly notified resource consent applications.
• Process and monitor Land Information Memorandums (LIMs) in line with statutory requirements.
• Prepare reports and assist with audits for government agencies.
• Support the Planning Guidance team and wider business support function as required.
• Deliver professional, responsive, and customer‑focused service to all customers and applicants.
• Contribute positively to change initiatives within the Planning Guidance Unit.
You’re proactive, detail‑oriented, and take pride in delivering high‑quality support. You enjoy working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar business support or administration role, including accounts management.
• Experience providing effective support in a corporate or public sector environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyse issues and recommend practical solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities, anticipate requirements, and meet deadlines.
• Strong relationship‑building skills and a collaborative working style.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) and experience with databases and process mapping.
• A results‑focused approach with a commitment to integrity, teamwork, and getting things done.
