Salary: : $140,000–$180,000/yr.
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Process Engineer (BPE) to support robotic process automation (RPA) initiatives within a classified Intelligence Community environment. This role focuses on leading process discovery efforts, documenting operational workflows, and identifying automation opportunities that improve mission efficiency and operational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate combines strong process analysis and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to create clear, structured documentation that supports successful automation delivery. This role requires close collaboration with developers, program managers, and government stakeholders to ensure automation solutions align with operational requirements and mission priorities.
Responsibilities
Process Discovery & Analysis
• Lead process discovery efforts within classified environments through stakeholder interviews, observation sessions, and structured workshops
• Analyze and document current-state (“as-is”) and future-state (“to-be”) business processes
• Identify automation opportunities based on process volume, complexity, operational impact, and mission value
• Evaluate workflows to determine automation feasibility and optimization opportunities
Documentation & Workflow Design
• Develop Process Definition Documents (PDDs) and functional documentation aligned with approved automation requirements
• Create process maps, workflow diagrams, and supporting documentation using BPMN, Visio, Lucidchart, or similar tools
• Ensure documentation is clear, complete, organized, and suitable for technical implementation teams
• Maintain documentation standards, templates, and reusable process artifacts
Stakeholder Collaboration & Delivery Support
• Collaborate with developers, program managers, and stakeholders throughout the automation lifecycle
• Align process engineering activities with program schedules, milestones, and stakeholder priorities
• Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate automation solutions against operational requirements
• Support sprint-based delivery activities within Agile development environments
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
• Track and report automation performance metrics including hours saved, cycle time reduction, and process improvements
• Support process improvement initiatives and operational optimization efforts
• Contribute to the development and refinement of automation governance and process standards
• Assist in maintaining organized repositories of approved process documentation and automation artifacts
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
• Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance required
• Experience: 4+ years of experience in process engineering, business analysis, operations, or related field within a federal environment
• Process Documentation: Experience developing Process Definition Documents (PDDs) or equivalent functional specifications supporting automation initiatives
• Stakeholder Engagement: Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to lead discovery sessions and collaborate with senior government stakeholders
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex, undocumented, or evolving business processes
• Documentation Skills: Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, structured, and professional documentation
• Automation Knowledge: Understanding of UiPath and automation concepts sufficient to assess automation feasibility and process suitability
• Work Style: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
• Location Requirement: Ability to work on-site within the DMV area
Preferred Qualifications
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
• Experience with UiPath Process Mining or Task Capture
• Experience supporting an RPA Center of Excellence (CoE)
• Familiarity with Department of Defense operational domains including financial management, logistics, HR, or acquisitions
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments
• Familiarity with QASP metrics and contract performance reporting
