Why This Role Matters:

We are seeking a highly skilled and outcome-driven Business Operations Specialist to support our Engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in driving and supporting operational excellence, enabling team efficiency, and supporting key strategic initiatives. You will work cross-functionally to ensure the team runs smoothly, scales effectively, and delivers against its goals.

Your key responsibilities:

• Partner with Finance and Engineering leaders: Drive financial planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making

• Liaise with Finance and Engineering: Liaise on operating expense planning (headcount, cloud hosting, software, contractors, software maintenance) monthly/quarterly re-forecasting cycles

• Support cost ownership: Drive efficiency and operational rigor: establish and enforce cost controls, spend governance, and budget discipline across engineering teams

• Deliver variance analysis: actuals vs budget/forecast with clear drivers and actionable insights

• Track and manage purchase commitments: Manage vendors, accruals, and vendor spend timing

• OKR Support & Insights: Gather and analyze data to support OKR (Objectives & Key Results) reviews, identifying trends and delivering actionable insights.

• Reporting & Presentation: Prepare reports, dashboards, and executive materials that provide clear visibility into team performance, progress, and strategic alignment.

• KPI Tracking: Monitor and track key performance indicators to assess the operational health of the Engineering organization.

• Operational Efficiency: Identify inefficiencies, propose improvements, and lead initiatives to streamline processes and enhance productivity.

Requirements:

• Excellent English skills.

• Previous experience in Operations, business analysis, or related roles

• An analytical mindset; proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker).

• Good business judgement

• Comfortable operating in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment

• Basic understanding of accounting principles (accruals, expense recognition)

• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Proactive, curious, and willing to challenge the status quo

• Obsessive attention to detail. At a glance, you know that the “numbers don’t make sense”.

• Handle many initiatives at one time, prioritizing them appropriately, and being organized enough to handle lots of details.

• Strong emotional intelligence. Be able to read the room and know how to work with a group to get the best out of each other.
