SCOPE OF POSITION
The Business Development Specialist will be responsible to expand ConeTec’s client experience program across the U.S. by building relationships, presenting our capabilities, supporting regional teams, and ensuring our brand stays visible through consistent outreach, events, and client engagement. This role blends business development, light technical communication, industry networking, and client care, with room to grow into deeper BD leadership roles.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Background/Experience Requirements
Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, other Engineering discipline, or related; OR
Experience in an A/E/C firm
Open to a range of experience levels (entry → mid-level BD professionals)
Helpful (not required): sales, BD, marketing, consulting, or technical client-facing roles
Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) is a plus
Soft Skill Requirements
Energetic, outgoing, and comfortable meeting clients
Strong presentation skills (or excited to develop them)
Highly organized, excellent follow-through
Clear communicator, both verbally and in writing
Enjoys switching between client-facing, planning, logistics, and coordination
Curious, proactive, and excited to grow in BD
ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Business Development & Client Engagement
Conduct outreach to priority accounts across assigned regions
Conduct and report on project debrief meetings
Build and maintain relationships with clients in the geotechnical and environmental sectors
Create regional client newsletters and coordinate/market demonstrations or courses
Represent ConeTec at conferences, workshops, and association events
Support Regional Managers (RMs) with project follow-ups, target lists, and BD planning
Track BD activities in Salesforce or dashboards
Client Presentations & Technical Communication
Schedule, coordinate, and eventually lead client capability presentations (brown bags)
Shadow RMs/BD team for the first 60 days to learn content, delivery, and FAQs
Help maintain and tailor capability decks with marketing
Confidently communicate ConeTec’s services at a high level (with support for technical depth)
Event Networking & Market Presence
Attend local and regional industry events
Make initial client introductions, provide high‑level context on services
Gather leads and intel, log follow-ups, warm-transfer to RMs
Coordinate materials and onsite logistics when attending events
Internal BD Support & Organization
Maintain a U.S. BD calendar
Arrange client meetings, outreach cadences, and presentations
Document key interactions and ensure consistent follow-up
Support webinar logistics, marketing and attendance-building
Contribute market insights to quarterly BD strategy reviews
