WHAT IS ON OFFER
Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager - Geochemistry to join the team in Johannesburg. The individual will be responsible to drive commercial growth of geochemistry analysis services (sample analysis, exploration testing, etc.) into the Southern African mining markets by identifying and winning new business, maintaining key client relationships and expanding market share.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful at Alfred H Knight the incumbent will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential
Market strategy and growth
Lead generation and sales
Client relationship management
Commercial leadership and reporting
Technical and operational coordination
Reporting and administration
Undertake ad-hoc projects and other duties of an appropriate nature in consultation with the Geochem Lead
Required Competencies
Strong understanding of the mining and mineral exploration industry
Knowledge of geochemical laboratory processes and analytical techniques
Strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements
Strong understanding of the mining value chain and exploration cycle
Strong commercial and strategic skills including market analysis, client relationship management, contract negotiation, and the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities
Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills are essential to engage with mining companies, exploration firms and key stakeholders
Results-driven, proactive, customer focused, ability to manage high-value accounts, build long-term partnerships
Understanding of sample preparation and analytical methodologies
Work collaboratively with laboratory teams to deliver solutions that meet client and business objectives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geosciences, Chemistry, Mining Engineering or related scientific/technical discipline
Business qualification (MBA or Sales certification)will be an added advantage
Required work experience
Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in a geochemistry or mineral laboratory environment
Experience in business development or sales within the mining or laboratory services sector; ideally with experience in selling to mining companies or geological consultancies
Travel
Local and international travel will be required at times. The incumbent must have the ability to travel frequently across Southern Africa
Valid passport
