Akiak Technology is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Systems Analyst (Systems Integrator-2). This position will focus on researching, analyzing, and reporting on critical global supply chains, particularly those involving metallurgical products and other critical goods imported into the United States. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, international trade, and systems thinking, with a high level of technical writing proficiency and the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights that inform decision-making on export controls, trade compliance, and industrial base resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth research and analysis of international supply chains, focusing on the origin, movement, and dependency of goods imported into the U.S.
Evaluate risks and vulnerabilities within supply chains, including sourcing, manufacturing, and geopolitical factors.
Collaborate with BIS program offices, economists, policy experts, and technical staff to identify critical sectors and strategic materials that impact U.S. national and economic security.
Develop and maintain dashboards, databases, and reports that visualize supply chain dependencies and trends.
Support the creation of detailed briefings, white papers, and data-driven reports for senior leadership and interagency stakeholders.
Leverage available systems and tools to gather, validate, and analyze trade and import data from government and commercial sources.
Contribute to IT system enhancements by identifying data needs, business rules, and process improvements that support supply chain analysis functions.
Stay informed on global trade developments, sanctions, and export control regulations that may affect critical goods and materials.
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, International Trade, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
Experience Qualifications
3+ years of experience in business analysis, data analytics, or supply chain research—ideally within a government or regulatory environment.
Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of international trade dynamics, including import/export processes, trade regulations, and global sourcing strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience developing and documenting business processes, workflows, and system requirements.
U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
Experience working with federal agencies.
Familiarity with federal data sources such as U.S. Census Bureau trade data, International Trade Administration databases, and the Automated Export System (AES).
Knowledge of export control regulations, such as EAR, ITAR, or CFIUS processes.
Understanding of critical supply chains related to strategic metals, rare earth elements, and other critical products.
Teleworking: The company has a hybrid remote policy for all employees and is dependent upon the type of position. This position may be assigned to support a federal contract, or to work in office. The Company’s teleworking eligibility may not apply if the employee is supporting a federal services contract. In this instance, the employee may be subject to federal telework policies and may be required to work onsite in the federal facility when requested.
