Brand Experience - Software Engineer (WordPress & JavaScript)

The Wow

Brand Experience is one of the largest and most visible areas within our product organisation. You’ll be joining a cross-functional team of designers, developers, and product owners, building tools and interfaces used by hundreds of thousands of users every day.

This role gives you the chance to work on a wide range of exciting projects – from building custom WordPress themes and Gutenberg blocks to integrating frontend components with cloud-native infrastructure. You’ll have impact from day one.

A taster of what you will be involved with:

Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins, tailored to our multi-brand needs

•
Build reusable Web Components and Gutenberg blocks using React and other JavaScript frameworks

•
Integrate frontend components with APIs and backend systems

•
Contribute to a cloud-based frontend architecture, leveraging GitHub Actions, AWS and Kubernetes

•
Collaborate closely with backend engineers, UX/UI designers, and product owners

•
Ensure technical feasibility of designs while optimizing for performance, SEO and accessibility

•
Write clean, maintainable code following modern best practices

•
Continuously improve tools, workflows, and development standards within the team

What we are looking for

•
3+ years of experience in frontend or full-stack development

•
Solid experience with WordPress – including plugin and theme development

•
Strong JavaScript skills and experience with frameworks like React, Vue or Angular

•
Familiarity with Gutenberg block development and Web Components

•
Basic understanding of PHP and the WordPress core (hooks, REST API, CPTs)

•
Experience integrating with APIs and writing scalable, responsive UI code

•
Version control experience with Git

•
Passion for collaboration, code quality, and clean architecture

Nice to have

•
Experience with Stencil or ExpressJS

•
Familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes

•
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions is a plus)

•
Understanding of accessibility and performance best practices

•
Background in multi-brand or multi-site platforms
