Position Summary
This Specialist plays an integral role in our Financial & Business Management Services Group by providing our clients with business management and bookkeeping services, including daily financial banking, revenue collection, bill payments, budgeting and reconciliation.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintaining account records; conducting a monthly reconciliation of every bank account including investment accounts
Conducting periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy
Providing information to the internal accountant who creates the company’s financial statements
Assembling information for internal accountant for the year end work
Maintaining and updating accounting records by performing duties such as recording and posting transactions in journals and the general ledger for accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
HST/GST: calculations, reporting and filing
Processing payroll in a timely manner: calculations, reporting and filing
Complying with all Government reporting and filing
Scanning and archiving, maintaining electronic filing system
Coordination and preparation of tax assignments including preparation of tax returns (T1 and T2) and financial statements (Notice to Reader)
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a Bookkeeping role and familiarity with basic accounting principles;
Previous experience in Public Accounting preferred;
Experience preparing HST;
Experience with payroll filing;
A keen attention to detail along with an ability to focus on the overall concepts;
Good verbal and written communication skills;
Self-confidence and a team-player;
Self-motivated with strong prioritizing and follow-up skills;
Ability to cope in a fast paced and deadline-driven environment;
Computer Skills:
Knowledge of QuickBooks & Xero
Knowledge of CaseWare
Knowledge of TaxPrep is an asset
Knowledge of Plooto is an asset
Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Outlook and Word
