Body Repair Technician – Job Description
Position Summary
The Body Repair Technician is responsible for performing high-quality structural and cosmetic repairs to vehicles following OEM procedures and shop standards. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering safe, accurate, and timely repairs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform teardown, structural repairs, metal straightening, panel replacement, and bodywork according to OEM repair guidelines.
Restore vehicle dimensions using frame and measuring equipment when necessary.
Conduct quality checks throughout the repair process to ensure accuracy and safety.
Work closely with estimators, painters, and other technicians to maintain an efficient workflow.
Document all repairs performed and communicate any supplemental damage to the estimator or production manager.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with shop safety protocols.
Use proper tools, equipment, and protective gear for each repair.
Assist in training or guiding junior technicians as needed.
Perform final fit and finish checks before the vehicle moves to the paint or reassembly stage.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in collision repair or completion of an accredited auto body program.
Strong understanding of structural repair, welding, metal finishing, and bodywork processes.
Familiarity with OEM repair procedures and the use of repair-planning technology.
Ability to read and interpret repair plans, measurements, and technical documents.
I-CAR certifications (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
Excellent problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 lbs., and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and standing.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
