Quick Summary

The Biostatistician (Rare Anemias Disorders Research Line) at the University Hospital Vall d'Hebron is responsible for analyzing data to identify trends and patterns in rare diseases, with a focus on hematology.

Job Description

The University Hospital Vall d'Hebron is highly specialised in rare diseases on a regional, national and international level with its incorporation as full member of 20 of the 24 European Reference Networks (ERNs).

The scientific coordination of the ERN-EuroBloodNet, www.eurobloodnet.eu, the ERN dedicated to Rare Hematological Diseases (RHD), is led by Dr Mañú Pereira, head of the Rare Anemia Disorders research lab within the “CANCER Y ENFERMEDADES HEMATOLOGICAS INFANTILES” group at the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute.

Within the ERN-EuroBloodNet and in line with the upcoming European Health Data Space (EHDS), our team is coordinating several projects on European patients’ registries for rare hematological diseases: we are collecting patients’ data from all over Europe to provide enough evidence for shaping European health policies and to enable researchers to access standardised, comparable data, ultimately aiming at providing better care to patients affected by RHDs.

ENROL (European Rare Blood Disorders Platform) is the umbrella platform of ERN EuroBloodNet, endorsed by the European Hematology Association. It brings together new and existing registries for rare haematological diseases and enables harmonised, interoperable collection of real world data to support health planning and epidemiological monitoring.

Within ENROL, our group also coordinates RADeep (Rare Anaemia Disorders European Epidemiological Platform), the dedicated umbrella registry for rare anaemia disorders. RADeep supports the prospective and longitudinal standardised collection of data of patients affected by any RADs, maximising public benefit from data on RADs aiming at avoiding fragmentation of data by promoting the standards for patient registries’ interoperability and leading data driven research for RADs in Europe.
