The Biostatistician at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC) provides strategic statistical expertise to support AMC’s mission as a leading academic veterinary hospital advancing clinical excellence, translational research, and evidence-based veterinary medicine. This role partners closely with AMC clinicians, investigators, trainees, and institutional leadership to design rigorous studies, analyze complex clinical data, and generate insights that improve patient outcomes and inform the future of veterinary care.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide statistical leadership for AMC clinical research, including prospective clinical trials, observational studies, outcomes research, and retrospective analyses using AMC’s high-volume, high-acuity caseload.
• Collaborate with veterinary specialists, residents, and researchers to develop study designs, sample size calculations, and analytic plans aligned with AMC’s research priorities.
• Analyze and interpret complex veterinary clinical data, including electronic medical records, diagnostic imaging data, laboratory results, and survival/outcomes metrics.
• Support translational and comparative medicine research that bridges veterinary and human health.
• Ensure methodological rigor, reproducibility, and compliance with institutional, ethical, and regulatory standards.
• Develop predictive models and clinical decision-support analyses to enhance patient care, quality improvement, and hospital performance.
• Contribute to peer-reviewed publications, scientific presentations, and internal reporting that elevate AMC’s academic reputation.
• Provide statistical consultation, education, and mentorship to AMC faculty, trainees, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Support grant applications and institutional research initiatives by contributing to study design and statistical methodology.
Qualifications
• MS or PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Demonstrated experience supporting biomedical or clinical research, preferably in academic medical or veterinary settings.
• Proficiency in R, SAS, Python, or comparable statistical tools.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex analyses for clinical, research, and leadership audiences.
• Experience working with electronic health record data and clinical research workflows preferred.

Pay Range
$90,000—$100,000 USD
